Dry Stone Walling is a multi national phenomenon, that is thousands of years old. International and inter regional styles, methods and materials are too numerous to mention. These structures help identify and define a landscape or property. They also act as year round havens for wildlife.

My name is Andrew, born and brought up in the north of England, moving to Stamford Lincolnshire in May 2021.
I have been working around Rutland, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire ever since. My first experiences of dry stone walling came from working on farms as a teenager.
I have always had an interest in Rural Crafts, and I feel privileged to be able to work as a traditional Dry Stone Waller.
All Dry Stone structures including walls are unique, even though the same type of stone might be being used throughout as the building material.
There are nuances in texture and shape that help to promote a particular character within each wall. Over the years of working and training with Master Wallers and other skilled Craftsmen, I have gained experience and qualifications that have allowed me to work at a high level of competency and quality. My work ethic ensures that I always treat each project with professionalism and a commitment to provide my very best for each customer.
I always work closely with each client to try to ensure that their vision for the new build or repair is as far as is practicable, completed to their absolute satisfaction.
I enjoy this interaction, and regard the structure as very much a joint project between us.
These include Boundary and Retaining Walls, Raised Beds, Decorative Walls, and smaller structures such as Barbecues, Fire Pits and Seating.
When possible I like to include pieces of old (perhaps centuries old) man made stonework in my work to give a more bespoke and unique twist.
I am a Professional Member of the Dry Stone Walling Association
The bulk of my formal training has taken place at the Dry Stone Walling Association (DSWA) Head Quarters near Milnthorpe in Cumbria.
I have achieved Lantra and Ofqual Regulated qualifications with the DSWA at Level 2. I have also trained and qualified with the Oxford Dry Stone Walling Academy. Most of my informal training has occurred “on the job” with a variety of experienced and skilled Wallers.
